Projects

ENERGIBYEN SKIVE is a development-section which works with climate, energy and business development. We exclusively initiate projects promoting the goals as stated in Skive municipality's Climate and Energy Strategy

With that, the department first and foremost initiates the projects, which are then managed by multidisciplinary teams involving both internal and external advisers.

The Climate & Energy Strategy provides the guidelines and EnergiByen Skive implements the projects.

The most extensive projects are geothermal heating and biogas.

Geothermal heating
Geothermal heating is the most obvious opportunity to become self-sufficient in terms of heating. The project seeks to connect 8 private district heating stations with a geothermal drill hole. The drilling is expected to begin in the fall of 2013.

Biogas
Up until now the focus on biogas has been at a minimum in Denmark and the Danish Energy Agency recommends the resource to be exploited to its fullest. To initiate the biogas production a wide range of opportunities has been facilitated for agricultural- and farming-organizations to make use of. A team of professionals has been facilitated in order to develop a strategic plan.

Resources and methods
With the Climate & Energy Strategy we have defined the resources and methods we will apply in order to reach our vision of a CO2 neutral municipality in 2029

In order to prevent a continued rise of the energy demands we will first and foremost reduce the consumption of fossil fuel with a renovation of our residential houses and the industry's production facilities.

Energy renovation of older homes
Skive Municipality has several thousands of single-family houses, which are not connected to the common heating and natural gas supply. As such the owners can be assumed to have a general interest in energy renovation. This will make way for a new market and with that, new jobs. It is the intention to make use of this opportunity locally, by developing local teams consisting of advisors, contractors, craftsmen, and banks, which can sell and carry out the renovations.
