EcoCity Skive is a small section in the Technical Department, which deals exclusively with to undertake actions that promote the goals outlined in the municipality's Climate and Energy Strategy the 2029th

This means that the department first and foremost take initiatives for projects, which are then managed in multidisciplinary project teams involving both local internal and external groups.

Climate & Energy Strategy sets the framework for the identification of priorities, EcoCity Skive must implement projects.

The largest and most extensive areas are initially setting up of biogas and geothermal heat.

Geothermal

Geothermal energy is the biggest and most obvious opportunity to become self-sufficient in heat. The project is at an advanced stage and drilling begins in autumn 2011. Join us for Geothermal.

Biogas

There has not been so much focus on biogas in Denmark and the DEA recommends that the resource used to the maximum. There is also strong support opportunities to help a biogas production started. In order to utilize the biogas, agriculture and farming organizations need help to get started. A wide project team composed of players from such agriculture, agricultural organizations, professional consultants and relevant staff in the municipality must be established to work on a plan for the area.

To prevent a continued rise in energy needs, we will primarily reduce the consumption of fossil fuels through energy renovation of our residential and industrial production facilities.

Energy renovation of older homes

In Skive municipality, there are several thousand single-family homes that are not connected to the collective heating or natural gas supply, and the owners will generally have an interest in making energy renovations. Here is a new market for businesses that create jobs, which extends far into the future. It is intended that this potential be exploited locally by bringing together local teams of consultants, contractors, builders and financial institutions who can sell, design and implement the energy renovations.
